Specialised courses

Arachne's UK Online offers a range of Specialised courses including

  • Internet access (OCR-National Skills Profile)
  • ESOL all levels English (City & Guilds)
  • Computing (E-Citizen, ECDL)
  • And other courses depending on needs

 

Health

a) Advocacy and interpreting service

  • Maintaining a list of advocates/interpreters able to accompany older women to those statutory institutions where advocacy services do not exist.
  • Arranging for advocates/interpreters to accompany older women requiring such services.
  • Liaising on behalf of older women requiring advocacy/interpreting with those statutory institutions, which provide such services.


b) Health education programme in Greek

  • Talks and workshops on health and social care needs of older women; e.g. healthy eating workshops, health fairs etc.
  • Production and distribution of relevant health information.


c) Good Neighbour's scheme

  • We support and arrange appropriate training for volunteers
  • We visit potential users of the scheme to ascertain their needs and preferences
  • We match volunteers with users
  • We work closely with volunteers and users to ensure the smooth running of the scheme


d) Carers self-help group

  • We facilitate and support this group
  • We produce a monthly newsletter
  • We link in with the wider carers network to promote good practice of the group

We organise various activities within the context of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with the ultimate goal of improving beneficiaries’ life. We endeavour to organise many events during the school holidays, to ensure maximum participation of mothers with school-aged children.
